1) Tell us about yourself?

I am Harsh Harish Obhan, pursuing my graduation in BAF, currently in the third year. My father runs a spare parts business along with his brother. For that having a detailed knowledge of accounting is must. Since my family has invested so many years in this business,I wanted to continue it ahead by getting knowledge of accounts & finance.I joined BAF in 2012, being from a business background I Had an option to go for BMS or BAF & I saw the subject which BAF was offering. BAF rather is more practical than BMS. It had more of practical subject,So i selected BAF. The other reason to go for it was accounts, which inspired me more of BAF. After BAF I want to continue my family business & take the business to new heights were none of my Family members have tought of.

2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?

Well it was overwhelming !! The most special moment was when my family friends and teachers were proud of me

3) Whom will you credit your success to?

I owe my success to my parents, family members and friends who supported me a lot to achieve the same. Because handling the business & simultaneously keeping up with studies was not at all an easy task for me. In this situation my father and my brother helped me alot to make up time for my college and studies. And last but not the least I would like to thank my professor, he has been extremely supportive to me whenever any kind of guidance or assistance was needed from him. Also he used to arrange my classes in early morning so that i can also contribute my time towards our business, he really helped me alot which cannot be expressed in words .

4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?

First Day !!! Nah.. not even thought of it. I just used to concentrate on what my teachers taught during the lectures & the main advantage for me was I always had my professor and my friends to solve all my queries.

5) How did you study for Sem V?

In sem 5 I had joined classes. Whatever my professor taught me in classes i used to sit im library along with my friends and pratice the same. Similarly for theory subjects I used to refer the past university papers & really it helped a lot to me. I finished off with the easy subjects first & the last 1 month I kept for theory & i used to sit for 2hours in library along with my friend for theory subjects. With the help of past university papers I got the idea of the paper pattern & I got confidence !

6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?

Ans 6- Easy !! Subjects are not easy .. if you are good in accounting the easy subjects are management accounting & financial accounting 6Yes, I used to write answers in bulleted points. My answer always started with an introductory paragraph proceeding bulleted points & in the last a small 2 – 3 lines paragraph which concluded the answer & also I used to highlight the important words & sentences in the answer.

7) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?

If you are thorough with your subject then it becomes quite easy for you to crack the topics. I used to read the questions twice, Also the last years papers are also of great help. Having a glance at them is essential.

8) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?

It was not mandatory to draw a diagram but yes where it was necessary I used to draw a table or a chart to highlight the entire answer. Yes, indeed it gives a good impression to the examiner & helps to score good marks

9)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?

No, I did not prepare any specific study pattern, neither my study hours were fixed. As i was regular in accounts so the last one month it gave me time for my theoretical subjects. I took up theory for the last 1month before exam and used to study 2hours a day.

10) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?

Whenever my mood swings I used to listen to EDM MUSIC and in case of any distraction I kept aside my books and restart with my subject.

11) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?

If given a chance, I would like to impose more of practical then theoretical knowledge. I think a student should have more of practical knowledge & be ready for the industry. Also i would like to make the university rethink on the grading system as it leads to cold war between friends.

12) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?

Ans 13- Let the people around you think whatever they want to but you must be confident of yourself & move forward in life. I ensure you’ll be close to success. And it doesn’t matter whether you are from a small or a big college or any vernacular medium what at the end matters is your score, the one who has reached to the doors of success is recognized & if you fear from any situation, I m glad because even I used to fear during ups and downs but don’t you forget the saying “DARR KE AAGE HI JEET HAI” !!!

  13) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?

Through this struggle & success, I have learned that whatever you do whole heartedly brings you success. Also I came to know the true faces of the people. Indeed it is true said that whatever good you do comes back to you !I would just like to say the upcoming BAF students that they have made a good choice by selecting a specialized course i.e BAF. Be relaxed & dont take too much stress. Prepare your own time table to study. Also enjoy your college life at the same time as these days wont come back !!!

14) Your feedback for BAF.co.in?

The site has helped many students. Keep up the good work !!
