1) Tell us about yourself?
I was keen in pursuing commerce post my Xth. On completing my XIIth, I decided to pursue Chartered Accountancy. Since the BAF curriculum incidentally correlated to CA subjects, I preferred BAF.
2) How does it feel to be a Topper of the college in TY Sem V exams?
It was a pleasant feeling, though not contemplated.
3) Whom will you credit your success to?
It was all possible by virtue of excellent coaching offered by all professors alike.
4) Did you start preparing from the first day of your TY Sem V?
I was regularly attending the lectures. This has enabled me to excel well.
5) How did you study for Sem V?
My study was based on class participation coupled with selective intensive reading. My primary focus was on Economics, being the single theory subject. Constant revision of data in economics could really help. For practical subjects, a solving complex problem with all probable adjustments needs to be practised.
6) Which are the easy subjects in Sem V?
From my perspective, Management Accounting was found to be very comfortable.
7) Any special way of writing the answers? Do you write answers in bullet points or in paragraphs?
The answers must be legible enough, precise and structured. More of diagrammatic presentation is advisable. The unique points may be underlined to be marked distinctly.
8) How do you crack case studies in theory and practical subjects?
To solve a case study, try to place yourself in the same situation and think logically to arrive at conclusion.
9) Did you draw any diagram in any paper? Is it mandatory? Does it help to get more marks?
Diagrams are not mandatory. However, it helps the examiner to evaluate better quickly.
10)Any specific study pattern adopted i.e. timetable / how many hours per subject per day etc.?
It varies according to the interest in the subject by a student. Generally, Indian Economy consumes more time as it is full of facts and figures.
11) How do you fight against mood swings and distractions during exam preparation?
If the vision is clear, mission will be successful. Nothing will distract us! It’s sheer determination to succeed.
12) If you are made the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University, what changes would you like to initiate in Indian education system?
I would like to replace rigid book reading to hands-on session for all the subjects.
13) Many students prepare sincerely but constantly live under fear that they are not from big college / not from English medium and eventually lose confidence. What message would you like to these students?
Medium of instruction doesn’t matter at all! It is the knowledge of the subject and the manner of presentation. A person with content and confidence is widely respected regardless of the institution he hails from. Confidence is the key to success! To motivate such students, a counseling session could help.
14) Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition?
Planning and practice are essential since the student’s age for a balanced career growth. Academic excellence is the key for a start of a great career. While institution offers academic excellence, professional experience shapes us more matured.
