Name –Mridul Jain

College Name – Nagindas Khandwala college

Course Name – BAF

Which year – Second year

Tell us about yourself?

I am Mridul Jain perusing BAF from NK College. I come from a middle class family but at the same time i was lucky enough to get well educated from one of the best schools and colleges of my time during my educational period. I decided to go for BAF is because accounts and finance is what I love to indulge in. And I think there are things which can b modified to improve the status of our nation in terms of finance. The second most interested field for me is sports. I am involved in it from my school days and would always want to continue it!

How does it feel to be the Class Representative of the class?

Representing someone or something is really a matter of proud. So becoming the CR of the class was actually my first achievement of graduation period. Currently it has become 2 years holding that position and I would love to keep going for one last year as well! It was an initiative taken by me to actually get a good all-round development. So I was motivated as I wanted to see a changed Mridul when I am done with my Graduation. So this was the reason behind the motivation.

What do you mean by leadership? Tell us about a time / describe a situation when you have proved you have better leadership skills.

Leadership, this terribly tiny word has a terribly big meaning. According to me leadership is not sitting back on couch and ordering your subordinates to do the work but it is to take initiative and set examples so that your subordinates are inspired by you to do the work. One moment when i proved that I have better leadership skills is the moment when i was given the Vice chairperson Post. That proved me that i am a good leader amongst all the batch mates with me.

What are the most important values you demonstrate as a leader?

As a leader it is very important to illustrate all moral values to set example for the team. But certain values that need more focus are optimistic, initiative, decision making and one of the important and most simple which nowadays is vanished punctuality. A leader should always be optimistic by hi approach if his believe is broken by some situation it’s very difficult to sustain. A leader should initiate what he wants. His actions would only then followed by his subordinates. A leader should have firm decision making power and a prompt one too so that whenever a decision needs to be taken it’s quickly applied. And the last one punctuality, as we all know time is money and money is the basic necessity of life now you ought to be punctual everywhere.

Does a leader need to be motivated? How can leaders maintain themselves to stay motivated?

Yes, definitely a leader needs to be motivated. This is because he has to be the role model of many individual talents which can make wonders if set in right direction. Motivation should be within and then should be incorporated by hits positive attitude, determination will to accept challenges in aspiring individuals. And leader should maintain this by keeping the confident off his or her colleagues.

What is the most difficult part of being a leader?

The most difficult part of leadership is to balance everything with all the responsibility and authority provided to him. Maintaining relationship with family friends and loved then becomes a tough job. A leader should prioritise his professional and personal work effectively.

What is your greatest strength and weakness as a leader?

My greatest strength is I like to try everything although it won’t fit for me. But for me trying means adding one more to my experience list. All that I try gives me more exposure and experience so I learn allot of things from it. And my weakness would be that I like to make mistakes. But not repetitive mistakes. Every mistake I commit helps me to learn something new!

According to you, what is BMS / BAF / BBI / BFM / BMM / BBA all about?

According to me BAF BBI BFM BMS BMM BBA has some differences. Every course has at least one specific subject which lets the student learn what they actually want to. Although the difference line between all courses is very thin but they are similar courses offered by university of Mumbai

As a student, what changes would you like to bring in Indian education system?

Being a student the most important change in education system would be imparting more practical knowledge in student with practical studies, case studies industrial visits etc. There should b less theoretical knowledge as it is just used to pass exams. Practical importance of everything is more important and useful then bookish knowledge and the examination pattern needs to b change it should b such that students would b required to do a constant research and studies and not just sitting a day or two before the exam and pass with ‘O’ or  ‘A’ grades. A sensible exam pattern should b used by which student will actually learn something. Also I would say that there should b more number of deemed university then affiliated university.

What would you advice someone planning to do BMS / BAF / BBI / BFM / BMM / BBA?

My advice would be that these courses are very common now a days and almost similar but difference comes is our interest. It’s the most important part before going for any course that you should find out what is your interest in. Personally speaking I would suggest finding colleges which offers a self made course according to our wish. For example if I like finance accounts management will make my own course of this three subject. So by this he can specialize in all subject he want and at the same time he can get a graduation degree. There are many universities offering such courses and most of them are deemed university.

Through this struggle and success, what have you learned? What is the wisdom of life and competition? What is your message to the upcoming BMS / BAF / BBI / BFM / BMM / BBA students?

Frankly speaking there is no struggle if u r doing what u thinks is good for you. If you are determined and hard working then you are bound to achieve success may it b any field then. You are just needed to b focused on responsibility and studies. Yes you will face allot of competition in life. Sometimes you will win, sometimes you will lose.  But that’s life for you accept it when u loose, and figure out what made u loose so that it doesn’t happen again, celebrate with every win and besides this keep smiling 🙂
