Tell us about yourself
I Priyank, Pursuing my graduation in BAf ( Bachelor in accounting and finance) currently in second year. I started my college life being a normal student of the class. Further accepting NK college opportunities I became sub-head of IT department in college festivals. Which gave me lot of exposure and courage to stand in front of people. The reason behind working for IT department is because I have interest in computer, photography, and I also know couple of software. There is nothing like dislike in my opinion. Everything which comes into your life should be accepted and should be followed. Coming into the second year, I was felicitated with the Vice- Chairperson of the section i.e, BAF, BBI, BFM. The only platform I got to stand upon to enhance myself is this post. And vice-chairperson gave me a stand, which is hard to achieve, and that post is only give to people who are highly dedicative to their work, and the work assigned.
Tell us about your college
Saying about the college Nagindas Khandwala college is the best college I suppose. Academic wise, my college has a good portfolio, and BAf is a course which is opted by scholar people, so their are hardly failures. But talking about the non academic area of the college. NK is the best college in Mumbai. There is no other college in Mumbai which has a festival for its section. There are number of sections and courses available in the college, each section celebrates a festival in each semester. The main advantage of this is the participation of students are from the section and all the interested students gets the exposure to work. For eg. BAF, BBI, BFM section has two festivals for the year, they are QUEST and PRAVAAh. Quest is a one day education seminar, where speaker from different education and industrial world come to shower their knowledge and Pravvah is a five day inter college festival where college throughout Mumbai participate and show their talent. My favorite faculty is Prof Kavita Shah. She is the coordinator of our section and she is the one who gives the students the opportunities and exposures.
When did you join BAF? Which year you are in? What inspired you to choose BAF and not any other course?
I joined BAF in 2013. And I am in second year. Being from a business background I had an option to go for BMS or BAF. And I saw the subject which BAF was offering, BAF is rather more practical then BMS. In the last two semester BAF has 10 practical subjects. Which is a craze for me. So I selected BAF. And the other reason to go for it is I love Accounts, which inspired me more of
BAF.
According to you, what is BAF all about? As a student, what changes would you like to bring in Indian education system?
Till 12th we studied all theoretical subjects, we had maths which was not less then theory and we just had accounts which use to inspire us for practical knowledge. BAF has practical subjects, which makes students think before learning. BAF also has projects and presentations which gives you the way of public speaking, making you practically eligible for mental stress and quick decisions.
Who in your life has influenced the most?
My dad, my principle, top business mans, top industrialist, these are the people who influences me and through whom I got inspiration to become like themselves.
What would you advice someone planning to do BAF / BBI / BMS / BFM / BMM / BBA?
I would advice students passing their 12th to go for any of the self finance courses, rather then the tradition b.com, From the above courses you will get the real change in you, which is needed to be a better person. And my advice to the students who are already pursuing the above courses, that please give your presentations and projects with efforts and work on them. They are designed for our development. And also participate in the college festivals they give a lot of exposure and experience to your life.
3 Questions you would like to ask an MBA?
I am not yet eligible to ask questions to MBA, but will like to know does self finance courses give a different platform during the MBA. And I know the answer, it is going to be yes.
What are your future plans? (Your ambitions)
I want to continue my dads business, and take the business to the height where non of my family member has thought off.
